How to run a theatre company and not die trying

Who we are and what we offer

We are Eric, Maria and Mar. Performers trained at the Institut del Teatre, we are also managers, producers and communicators. Since we met in 2010 we have never stopped working together, held together by our company, EL EJE.

With the real experience of having built a company after the 2008 crisis, and with ten shows behind us, we are increasingly aware of the gap between the real working world and the one students imagine, or hear about from “established” actresses. That is why we offer this course: through real anecdotes from our ten projects together, we introduce all the theory and advice we believe is essential to leave the classroom and start working with dignity.

The course

We offer a course for students in the final (or middle) years of performing-arts studies, with a completely realistic outlook suited to our times and to today’s political and cultural contexts. A course that offers tools and shares experience, focused on understanding in practical terms how to enter the job market by creating a theatre company.

A talk with practical activities and exercises, with room for doubts and questions. As a gift, useful documents: from spreadsheets with programmers’ contacts to templates for calculating earnings according to venue capacity.
