La segona Eva

The Second Eve

La segona Eva — El Eje

Synopsis

How do you explain fear to someone who has never lived it?

After a spiritual retreat in a monastery, Eva reports on social media something that happened involving one of the friars. From then on, the power structures that oppress her become more evident than ever: her account is constantly questioned, judged and ridiculed.

La segona Eva speaks of women made of wood, of all silenced women. It speaks of the kinds of violence that are not physical and are therefore even more invisible, because they are so hard to report. Drawing a parallel and a play of mirrors with the Virgin Mary, with Eve and with the female figures of Catholicism, the play asks how to trust yourself when everyone doubts your truth, when everyone wants to speak for you and so condemns you to silence.

10–28 March 2021 at Tantarantana.
