Synopsis

Masticar hielo is a free version of Edward Albee’s «Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?». Martha and George invite Nuna and Nick for what is supposedly one drink after the party Martha’s father has thrown. Nuna and Nick witness the hosts’ macabre dynamic: violence, sex, abuse… What was meant to be a polite drink turns into a nightmare in which the guest couple is transformed and drawn into the hosts’ atrocious spiral. Confessions and never-spoken secrets put the very idea of love under scrutiny. Fiction and reality blur. Who is telling the truth? When lying becomes a game, the game becomes dogma. Masticar hielo is a jolt to romantic love. It is an acid comedy that eats anyone up from the inside; it is literally madness.
